On Saturday, July 23rd we hosted the 2nd annual Manitoba premiere of The 48 Film Festival at the Gimli International Film Festival (GIFF) where 15 films were jury selected to screen at the Gimli Theatre. Our long time host Amanda Kindzierski opened up our event to the first public screening at the GIFF in 2 years. We can be proud to say that our event seated over 170 people and was among the largest attended crowds at the festival this year. Congrats to all the filmmakers who completed films and participated in the film challenge this year.
The 48 Film Festival created this cross-country challenge to stimulate collaborative independent filmmaking in Canada and elevate fresh, unknown and rising independent voices. “The festival aims to include Québec and Nunavut, and all other provinces and territories not yet represented. We strongly encourage the use of French, Indigenous, and other languages of the rich tapestry of cultures across the ten million squares of this land.”
